  • Why I Blog for Money

Posted by Frugal on June 20th, 2006

The truth is that there is really not much revenue from the tiny amount of clicks on my Google Ads, so far, my only source of revenue.  But I still check for the Adsense balances and report those couple of cents to my wife every now and then.  Painting a grand picture for my wife, with the small but slightly increasing amount from AdSense, she would agree with me to continue on my blogging efforts.  In my mind however, I’m happy to just break even on my hosting costs.  Every minute spent on blogging is every minute taken away from my family time or my sleep time.  Certainly, if I’ve got nothing else besides readership to show to her, it can’t make much sense to her.  I just hope that in time, everything works out and I can mold my blog into a stable and less time-consuming format.

And for tax purpose, I declare officially that I’m not blogging as a hobby since hobbies cannot qualify as a money-making activity according to IRS.

Yeah, I was all excited when I started blogging and about the seventh visitor clicked on an ad. This garnered me about 44 cents. I said, hell yeah! And then got about 1 cents for the next five clicks. Damn! I guess I will have to keep at my day job.

Yeah, even doing any other part-time job will pay so much better than blogging. Minimum wage can handily beat those couples of cents.
