  • Market Update: Tech Breaking Out

Posted by Frugal on August 16th, 2006

The couple of high-tech stocks AMD, CNXT, BRCM, MRVL, etc. that I watch are breaking out (up by more than 7% today, and up by about 20% in the past two weeks alone) in strong volume. I think tech will be back in play for this coming rally. Gold however has been languishing relatively speaking. I think gold may need another 2 to 3 months of consolidation. Here is a post from financialsense.com for the explanation of gold languising, which I mostly agree.

XLK and SMH may be good index, although I would choose some other individual stocks that are really beatened up, to get a lot more upsides.

I myself will not be buying tech stocks however. I have too much in tech already, and I don’t want to increase any further exposure to tech. You can see my reasoning in my diversification posts or networth review posts. If you notice, my company shares are increasing in value really fast in my networth page.
