  • ML’s Self Introduction

Posted by ML on October 3rd, 2006

Hi, this is ML. I’m very excited to be writing for www.1stMillionAt33.com. I have been a frequent reader of this site from the beginning and have always admired Frugal’s versatility, honesty and investing acumen. So even though I have an investing blog of my own at investmiddleway.blogspot.com, I simply couldn’t refuse when Frugal made me this offer to be his partner.

Like Frugal, I want to remain anonymous to preserve what privacy the digital age has left us. But I do want to share my background so as to put my writings in perspective. I’m married and both my wife and I are in our early 30’s. We are expecting our first child, a daughter, next February! I’m a scientist in a technology development company in the eastern US while my wife works in a healthcare related field.

I will try to share the things I have learned from being an amateur investor for over ten years (“amateur” being the operative word :-) ). I will primarily be writing about investing related topics. I don’t know about you, but I have always been interested in knowing how and why certain actions are called for, as opposed to being spoon-fed a recipe of what to do. This will be a central theme in my writing.

I share Frugal’s emphasis on precious metals and other commodities, but initially I want to go over and extend a series I have been writing on asset allocation. I have a very flexible approach to investing in that my personal assets are evenly divided between a passive, asset allocated approach, and active management based on my own macroeconomic analysis. In short, I hope there is something for everyone in my writings.
