Want To Be My Partner Or A Guest Writer?
Posted by Frugal on October 3rd, 2006
I’m sure that you have noticed that there are days or weeks that I simply cannot be as dedicated to my blog as I would like. Instead of letting my blog languish without quality articles, I have invited ML from Investing in the Middle Way to be a regular writer as a partner of 1stMillionAt33.com. In the past, I’ve frequently referenced to ML’s writings in my market commentary. I have always enjoyed reading his blog.
The reason for inviting partners to my site is obvious. My first and foremost goal at this blog is to share the best things that I know and I can find about money/finance/investing. Even though I will be giving up profits to my new partner(s), if you, the readers can benefit from more quality content, I think it’s all worth it.
I am still currently open for possible more partners to participate on my site. So what are the terms of partnership that I am giving to each of my partner? Since I believe that Content is King on the internet, and I want to be as fair as I can be to everyone participating (including myself), here is the brief summary of my terms:
- The author gets 100% of the profits from the Google Adsense Ad that are placed within author’s own article, using author’s own ad_client code.
- For all other non-article based profits, 80% of all available profits are divided by the amount of web traffics that is due to each person. I’m currently retaining 20% for admin, and permanent features such as software tools/calculators that I am and will be providing.
- The web traffics are divided into traffics due to regular returning visitors and other non-regular traffics. Returning traffics are calculated from home page (& linked to home page) related hits, and divided by the amount of current on-going contribution (through a simple point system). Other traffics are assigned based on the author, and/or prorated according to the traffics contribution (from current and all past articles). All traffics numbers are from Google Analytics.
- All profits are distributed without any capital re-invested back into 1stMillionAt33.com.
Theoretically, if you contribute on par with me, both on the basis of current and past contribution, you can get your share of profits up to 40% of total (half of 80%). Certainly if you contribute more, you can get even more.
- The author must give 1stMillionAt33.com permission on archival and re-submission for promoting the site.
- Since a large percentage of profits are shared with the author, the author must publish any new article on 1stMillionAt33.com first. With 5 to 8 hours delay, the author is allowed to re-publish the same article on his or her own site. In another word, the author is treated as a partner of 1stMillionAt33.com, and is asked to reciprocate 1stMillionAt33.com as such.
- Promotion and links back to author’s own site will be fairly limited. Author is asked to think as a partner of 1stMillionAt33.com.
The above is for people who would like to participate as a partner. For people who want to be a less intensive guest writer, they can still get 100% of the Google Adsense revenue embeded in the article, plus prominent and direct promotional links & paragraph put into the same article. But they won’t get any other advertising profits generated.
Actually, I was hoping to find someone who is as crazy as I am to participate in both writing articles AND writing various online softwares for stock trading and asset allocations to be made available on 1stMillionAt33.com in the future. I offered 50:50 split, but with no taker. However, I am just happy that a good investing blogger like ML has agreed to sign up as a regular writer on 1stMillionAt33.com.
Does all of these mean that I won’t be posting? Absolutely not. I think having more time per article, I finally should have enough time to write about things that I want. I may post less frequently, but I hope through such partnership, I will bring better contents to all of you, my beloved readers.
If you are interested in being a partner or a guest writer, please contact me by email, and I can give you the full details of the term. Certainly, I will be looking for good and knowledgeable writers for the benefits of my readers. And I’m not specifying any level of participation right now. I only hope that by making the deal to be fair and incentivized enough for you, you will automatically work harder towards the common goal of a better 1stMillionAt33.com.
Why you may want to consider my offer? Look at where I started 6 months ago, what and how I am doing currently, and where I want to go in the future. I may not be the most successful, but I am certainly determined to be successful. And I certainly tried to make the most fair offer to you. This is not another using Other People’s Time, or Other People’s Resources leverage game. I treat my partners with the respect that they deserve. My business philosophy is win-win. Just like all the My Digg of the Week, I go extra steps for the benefits of people around me.

I would also like to be a guest writer.
I now cover the frugal beat, but I’ve covered Wall Street for most of my career. I worked at Institutional Investor’s newsletter division in Manhattan, covering IPOs, M&As and LBOs, CMOs and the rest of the financial alphabet.
