Right on. I especially appreciate your comment "this bailout plan is really intended for banks and financial institutions, so that they can keep valuing their mortgage holdings at a higher artificial unreal price." Did you see the political cartoon of Bush-Bankers bailing their sinking rowboat by pouring the buckets of slimey back water onto the adjacent boat of homeowners?

Kurt who are you kidding? That this had to be proposed at all is a bailout puts the government in the middle of a contract and unfortunately what is a 'suggestion' will be a requirement later as this is just the beginning. This will end up being 5 to 10 times larger bailout that the S&L crisis of the early 90's.

All of these bankers and investment bankers that created this crap should and must go to prison when the taxpayer bailout occurs>

Frugal,

I went and checked your "networth" chart. At the top and bottom of the table (Friday, and then something like May 10 '06) your networth is listed as right around $543k-$545k. So you're flat for the last year and a half.

Meanwhile, if I go back and check the S&P 500, it's up about 14% over the same period.

So what am I missing? How are you qualified to be giving everyone investment advice and saying there are going to be bear markets, etc.?

This is not a bailout. Bush recommended that the greedy lenders who put folks with poor credit histories into risky loans deal with the problem themselves. The government did NOT intervene into any contract, they are just recommendations. The mortgage folks wanted the government to bail them out, but Bush said basically that you created the problem, you deal with it, and then recommended a way to do it. They are free to ignore the advice, take it, or modify it.

There is no law, directive, presidential order stating what must be done. The people who created the problem were told to deal with it themselves.

Please get your facts straight.

There is a simple solution to this outrage. Pull all of your money out of the market. Teach these bastards that if they're not going to honor the sanctity of contracts & capitalism then you're money is moving elsewhere.
