Engineering is a good starting career job where anybody with 10 years experience can make 100-150K. But, essentially it's a dead end job if you want to aspire hire.

So many people from my business school class were engineers wanting to change. It's just human nature. Finance guys right out of business school at 28 years old make 150-200K regularly. By the time they are 32, they are making $300-500,000 no problem.

The career choice is huge in terms of retiring early. Hence, why I will stick with finance for the next 8-10 years.

if engineering careers are not attractive to Americans how will America maintain its standing in the world ? that should profoundly change our long term investment strategy.

Do you have a strategy for how you are going to allocate the raise to saving / spending / investments? I'd recommend saving at least 50% of this and any future pay increases ... your thoughts?

I will always pay sufficient attention to the clients' money, like my own.

My future raise?? I don't think that far. Just want to do every of my job properly.

There are some economic trends that individuals just can't fight against. Either you pay attention to the trend, or be swallowed by it. For engineering, I'm guessing one should move to the center of the development to continue one's career. Moving oversea obviously is a big decision.

I'm ready to get off my career in about 15 years (or less), which probably will be 10 to 15 years earlier than my desired retirement age. That's just how things go. I'm very optimistic, because there are always so many things that one can do, if one is courageous enough to overcome his own pride.
